CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
The effects of age, sun exposure, harsh weather, as well as repetitive facial movements all lead to eventual wrinkling of the facial skin. Patients commonly ask Dr. David Pratt to help them improve the appearance of their facial skin. CO2 laser resurfacing is a procedure performed for the purpose of wrinkle improvement, facial skin tightening, acne scar improvement, or the treatment or removal of skin lesions. The carbon dioxide laser emits an intense beam of light that vaporizes a very thin layer of the abnormal skin surface. During the healing phase, healthier, more organized skin components are deposited, thus improving the appearance and health of the remaining skin. Additionally, the heat from the laser causes up to 25% shrinkage of the skin components, thus causing a tightening of the treated skin.
