During the healing phase, healthier, more organized skin components are deposited, thus improving the appearance and health of the remaining skin. Additionally, the heat from the laser causes up to 25% shrinkage of the skin components, thus causing a tightening of the treated skin.
Dark spots on the skin can often be effectively removed when treated with the Q-Switched Ruby laser. The laser works by passing a special laser light through the skin and this light energy is selectively absorbed by the dark pigment of the brown spot. The absorption of the light energy results in the partial destruction of the dark pigment and then over 4 to 6 weeks following the treatment, your body's own defense system carries away the remainder of the shattered pigment particles.
