Patients who seek cosmetic nasal surgery (Rhinoplasty) often wish to smooth the hump on the bridge of the nose, straighten a crooked nose or have the tip of the nose made smaller and more defined. Occasionally, a patient seeking a rhinoplasty will also complain of difficulty breathing through one or both nostrils. Additional procedures such as straightening the nasal septum, or clearing the nasal airway of obstructions can be performed simultaneously by David Pratt.
Many patients wish to improve the appearance of their facial wrinkles without having to undergo costly surgical procedures with prolonged recovery times. In many cases, Collagen and Botox offer this type of patient an excellent alternative to surgery, often with quite dramatic results.
COLLAGEN
Collagen is a natural protein that gives the softness and fullness to skin. When purified Bovine (cow) collagen is injected just beneath the skin surface, it replenishes the material that has been lost as a result of the mechanical action of the underlying muscles, or of the dissolving effects of the sun. Collagen can be used to soften wrinkles and unwanted facial lines, fill out depressed scars, or add volume to the border of the lip.
BOTOX
Vertical wrinkles or "frown lines" in the middle of the brow that occur as a result of the prolonged action of the frown muscles can be effectively treated with a Botox injection. By weakening the "frown muscles" or other overactive muscles of the face, Botox injection can leave the face appearing more restful and relaxed, as well as soften many of the wrinkles caused by the repeated action of these muscles. "Dynamic wrinkles" or wrinkles that worsen when the underlying muscle contracts include the "crows feet" at the corner of the eye, and those around the lips when we pucker. Patients with these "dynamic wrinkles" are potential candidates for treatment with Botox®.
